vado is well worth the price June 12, 2010 Steven Rosenblum (Bartlett, TN)
This video recorder was so easy to use that 5 minutes after receiving it I was making a video of my little girl playing in her room.
The built in USB plug makes uploading to Facebook or U Tube a snap. It's also easy to upload to your pc to keep the file. The built in memory is more than enough for me to take a 60 minute HD movie if I wanted to.
The keys work just fine with a light touch and the menus are well thought out and easy to figure out what to do.
B-Stock is a good choice April 5, 2010 K. Medrano (Phoenix, AZ) The main reason for purchasing at Amazon was because I had a $50 Amazon gift certificate. I am really glad that I chose B-stock because it is brand new. The packaging had no scratches or dents that I noticed and the video camera was wrapped up and new. I was actually really surprised that it weighs as little as it does. For some reason I thought it would be more solid.
The box came with the video camera, a white (clear) silicon case, and documentation. If I had known that the silicone case was white, I would have bought the white b-stock Vado. I thought I could use it without the case but it gets too many finger prints on it so it really is beneficial to use the case.
I did a lot of researching on Amazon before choosing the Vado HD 4GB. I wasn't looking for a professional video camera, just a portable one that I could carry with me on my family vacation. I haven't had the family vacation yet, so I have yet to see how this will work recording people, a lot of movement and noise. I have taken a few test shots around the house, inside and outside and they all look really good on my PC laptop. The video files were pretty easy to upload to my laptop, although I had to search for the Creative Labs included software on the drive to get it started. (This is probably due to having Windows 7). I love that it has a wider lens and that was another major reason for buying this particular product over others.
I noticed that the noise that plays when turning on the camera seems too high for it's capacity and is fuzzy or distorted. This is a minor nuisance, but a nuisance no less. I have read other reviews about the poor sound quality on this generation of the Vado but have yet to really test it. It also doesn't zoom that far in and it's sort of slow to actually perform the zooming.
Although I don't have much experience with video cameras, I don't know that this camera is worth it's full price and I definitely wouldn't have paid over $100 for it - just because it's very lightweight and not as solid. But don't let my opinion stop you from buying this cute little camera with a wider lens than competitors have, that you could take anywhere.
Would Not Turn ON! March 31, 2010 Bellalange (Big D) Although it charged up, it would not turn on. Don't know if this is a frequent problem for this product or not. I am so relieved that I purchased it through Amazon so that I was able to get a full refund with no problems.
missing the HDMI cable advertised as included March 27, 2010 moonfarm (gorgeous Georgia) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
No HDMI cable with purchase.
Creative Cust NO-Service says it is not part of the package.
Information on website for this model specifies an 'included HDMI cable' with the camera.
This page at end of first paragraph --
[...]
Again further down under Playback Video on your HDTV.
Will Amazon Customer Service send me the cable to fulfill the package ?
That would bump my review to FIVE Stars and boost my loyalty on future buys.
excellent picture quality March 26, 2010 J. Taylor (springfield MA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I can carry this above the visor in my car or in my shirt pocket and have it with me when I may need it. I can take little snippits of video and freeze a picture from it. It's better then a regular camera because you can move the image forward or back until you have just the right picture. 4GB was plenty. I only take video of family stuff and short events with it. I'm not videoing a whole baseball game or wedding with it but I can video the kiss, and the eating of the cake, stuff like that.
