1 out of 5 stars read the 1-star reviews: it really won't feed paper   March 9, 2010
James Huff (Los Angeles, CA United States)

The other 1-star reviews are right: this printer has serious problems feeding paper. Right out of the box, it had trouble feeding paper and often displayed an "out of paper" error message when paper was in the tray. I was able to get the printer to work most of the time by reloading paper and/or pressing OK multiple times, but eventually the printer just refuses to feed paper from the letter-size tray at all.

I should note, the paper is HP-brand, specifically for use with this printer.

It's too bad, because otherwise the printer is great: fantastic print quality, outstanding speed, very easy setup for both Windows and Mac OS X. But all of this matters little when it won't feed the paper...

1 out of 5 stars Can't recommend it for occasional home use   February 13, 2010

If new and used on a regular basis, this is a fine printer.
However, when not being used for a couple of months, this printer will die.
What happens is that the ink dries in the six rubber tubes that connect the cartridges to the print head. Once the flow is stopped, you can throw away the printer. There is no way to clean the tubes internally.
Therefore, unfortunately, as good a job as it does while alive, it is absolutely not recommendable. HP should recall them all and replace them for free even after warranty expired. It is a substandard design to me and should not have hit the market in the first place. No question that I am upset about it, especially as I am sitting on nearly $200 worth of ink inventory that becomes worthless too.

4 out of 5 stars Just Plugged It In And Wah-La   January 28, 2010
Aaron D. Kuefler (Chicago, IL USA)
I just picked this printer up, because it was pretty inexpensive. Boy, did it blow my socks off. As far a print quality goes, this was very good. I gave old pictures to family members for Christmas, and they all enjoyed them thoroughly. It was also very easy to install. I just plugged it in, and Windows 7 did the rest. Overall, a very good quality, low priced product. I also enjoy the Vivera inks that can be bought individually instead of all in one cartridge.

1 out of 5 stars Not in working order!   January 7, 2010

I love my old HP Photosmart 8250 but it stopped working. I was happy to have
an opportunity to order another for a reasonable price, but when I set it up (it did
not come with a power cord, so I used my own) it had a very similar problem to the
other one. I have not yet asked Amazon how I should deal with this since it was
ordered from a third party.

1 out of 5 stars GARBAGE DON'T Waste your money!!!   October 10, 2009
Mother Hen (Brownstown, MI)

I went Through 3 HP 8250 printers in the first 3 months! Multiple issues. FIRST Ink failure error which was not a hardware problem as told to me by HP support, I found the answer on an online forum.

NEXT the rollers would not feed paper through. I had to apply hairspray to the roller to get it to pull paper because the roller resurface kit they sent me did not work.

THEN It stopped printing black ink 2 days after my warranty ran out so they suggested for me to buy a NEW PRINTER! I spent $399.99 on this printer WHAT A RIP OFF!!! I STILL have my old HP PRINTER deskjet 932c (going on 10 years and still kicking) and you clean the ink cartridge head, HOWEVER, on NEWER PRINTERS the print head is inside the printer and you cannot get to it so you need a cleaning kit that (DOES NOT WORK) I cleaned it and inserted the special fabric with solution and followed their instructions and it worked again for about one week, so I had to clean it again and it worked for another week and I could not afford to keep paying $15.00 a week for a new cleaning kit TOO EXPENSIVE.

STUPID ME I went and got another HP that took the same type of cartridge(only I bought the store warranty at bestbuy this time) and the same problems occurred within a 9 months so after a bit of a fuss and annoying the manager at BESTBUY until he got tired of me, I exchanged it for a different HP (c4680) because they are NOW making NEW PRINTERS with the OLD TYPE of print heads that you clean directly and that do not have internal heads GEE I WONDER WHY THEY WENT BACK TO ARCHAIC PRINT HEADS?????????? BECAUSE THEY WORK thats why!!!! OH and I bought the warranty on this printer, too. IF THIS ONE STARTS ACTING UP - I am getting a CANNON -ONLY TIME WILL TELL. !!!! HP YOU StinK!!! YOU BAD!!!!!!!!!!!!

DONT WASTE YOUR TIME and MONEY ON THIS PRINTER!!!
