With standard Ethernet and parallel interfaces, large and small workgroups can share the benefits and savings of color laser printing. When you want an economical and productive color printer, it's the Magicolor 2200 DeskLaser that gives your business the competitive edge it needs to get results. The Magicolor 2200 DeskLaser even offers extra document handling, such as high-volume paper input, two-sided printing, and mailbox features to make your printing even more productive.
Amazon.com Product Description For professional-quality printing in both crisp black and vibrant colors, Minolta's QMS Magicolor 2200 DeskLaser printer offers 1,200 x 600 dpi resolution and a fast paper throughput of 16 to 20 ppm for black and 5 ppm for color. It's powered by a 100 MHz image-processing engine to optimize your business text, graphics, and photographs. Plus, the 2200 includes an auto-sensing 10/100 Base-TX Ethernet network interface that supports printer resource sharing within your office. The Magicolor 2200 accurately handles both business and large home print job requirements. It's equipped with a standard 500-sheet tray plus a handy multipurpose input tray for printing labels, envelopes, and transparencies; and it prints on letter, legal, and executive stationery (16- to 24-pound bond) and on heavy card stock (up to 90-pound index). The 2200 permits manual duplexing. Upgrades and options can significantly boost the power of the Magicolor 2200. It comes with 32 MB RAM standard, expandable to a maximum of 96 MB. A 500-sheet lower feeder, autoduplexing unit, and five-bin mailbox are options to speed larger printing tasks and busier offices. (Minolta estimates the duty cycle at an exceptional 35,000 prints per month, assuming a 50/50 mix of color and monochrome). This substantial printer (at over 85 pounds) measures about 18 by 21 by 20 inches. It will be a central tool to your office productivity, as it is packaged with all the essentials you need to get started, including four toner cartridges (black, cyan, magenta, and yellow). The Magicolor 2200 runs on all versions of Microsoft Windows and is backed by a one-year limited warranty.

Expensive piece of junk January 30, 2010 Fan Chongyi This is the most expensive mistake I've ever made in purchasing computer-related equipment. I paid about $900 when I purchased the Minolta printer new several years ago. I thought I was investing in a read workhorse that would stand me in good stead for many years to come. The fact that you can buy the same printer now for $75 on E-bay should tell you something. In fact I don't see how you could even ship this incredibly heavy and bulky piece of equipment for under the $75 amount.
The machine is too noisy to leave running all the time, yet it's time-consuming to boot up when you do shut it down.
The numerous consumables (cartridges, oil rollers, drums, etc.) all wear out at a fast rate and they are VERY expensive to replace (as other reviewers have noted).
Tech support was virtually non-existent.
I'll never buy a Minolta product again.
Minolta Magicolor 2200 Color Printer August 8, 2007 W. Jackson (MA, United States) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I have owned Minolta's Magicolor 2200 Color Printer for 5 plus years and have found that the printer is always in need of a replacement cartridge or other internal mechanical item that will not be covered under warranty and ends up costing half the price of the printer. I actually stopped using the printer after the Magicolor 2200 needed a second fuser motor assembly at the price of $500 plus dollars. In my opinion the printer is a money hog that is never statisfied for very long before requiring that more money be spent to keep it running. I believe that Minolta knows how expensive a system it is for the small business owner and household user to operate, but because the Magicolor 2200 is such a cash cow in the consumable department Minolta will not correct any of the systems shortcomings. I stopped using my system 3 years ago when after spending around $500 on toner cartridges and a few rollers it needed a second fuser motor assembly in less than two years at a cost of $500 plus. From my experience the 2200 does not produce anywhere as many copies as the manufacture claims before requiring to be feed again. I have never taken an absolute position on an item before in this type of a forum, but do not buy the Minolta Magicolor 2200. Look at other color laser manufacturers. I doubt if anything can match this system for being such a money hog.
Get Ready to PAY, PAY, PAY! August 14, 2004 Phil A REAL guy who didn't want to give Amazon his credit card number (South Carolina) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I've owned the Minolta Desklaser 2200 for 1.5 years. My first printer had a motherboard crash within 6 months!
I had just refilled the printer with toner, $500.00, and a $275.00 Transfer Belt.....
Minolta paid for a new machine which has run OK so far. Now it needs a new Transfer Belt....there goes another $275.00.
Did I mention how quickly you will be paying for Oil Rollers? We run through one every couple of months!! They are $50.00 a pop.
The quality is good but this machine is designed to eat you out of house and home.
Get ready to pay when you buy one of these babies!!!!
BAD BAD Printer July 21, 2004 Shawn Kelley 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Don't buy a warranty! Its not worth it. Warranties don't cover any consumables. The whole printer is a consumable, except the housing. Consumables don't last even close to what is spec'd.
Mine has 46,000 prints and I've spent $4,200.00 on consumables!!! Very bad.
Went OUT after only 3500 pages! May 5, 2004 Eccentricities (Syracuse Utah United States) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I lvoed this printer when I first got it. Thank God I bought the extended warranty! After only 3500 pages, it needed EXTENSIVE servicing, because the fusing motor went out. The extended warranty wouldn't authorize the reparis, as it was $900.00! They did refund my purchase price, so now I am looking for something else....DONT BUY if you expect it to last long, especially for the price!
